リーア（ウドノキ）科の植物は、旧世界の熱帯地域に１属７０種ほどが分布しています。この「ルブラ」は、ビルマが原産のコッキネア種の園芸品種です。「なんてん（南天）」に似た木で真っ直ぐに伸び、暗い赤紫色の葉が特徴です。観葉植物として栽培されています。夏に散房花序をつけ、外側が明るい赤色で、内側が黄みを帯びたピンク色の小さな花を咲かせます。花後には黒い果実ができます。

ウドノキ科ウドノキ属の常緑低木で、学名は Leea coccinea cv. Rubra。英名は Red leea。

The Leeaceae (the Leea family) has about 70 species of one genus, and are distributed in the tropical regions of the Old World. The "red leea" (Rubra) is a cultivar of the Leea coccinea native to Burma. It is a tree similar to "Nandina" and grows straight and features dark reddish purple leaves. It is cultivated as a foliage plant. Inflorescences are borne in summer and bloom small flowers with a bright red color on the outside and a yellowish pink color on the inside. Black fruits are produced after the flowers.
