北大西洋にあるアゾレス諸島のサンミゲル島の固有種です。茎は直立し、分枝して高さは１５〜６０センチになります。葉は大きな楕円形で、縁には鋭い芒状の鋸歯があります。６月から８月ごろ、茎頂に散房状の円錐花序をつけ、黄色い頭花を咲かせます。果実は痩果で、短いくちばし状をしています。

キク科タンポポモドキ属の多年草で、学名は Leontodon rigens (syn. Microceris ringens)。英名は Rigid hawkbit。

The Rigid hawkbit (Leontodon rigens) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to San Miguel Island in the Azores in the North Atlantic Ocean. The stem is erect and branched, 15-60 cm tall. The leaves are large elliptic with sharply serrated edges. The yellow flower heads are produced in corymbose panicles at the top of the stem from June to August. The fruit is an achene with a short, beak-like shape.
