アメリカの南西部、テキサス州からメキシコにかけて分布しています。乾燥地に生え、高さは１〜３メートルになります。葉は丸く銀白色をしています。５月から１０月ごろ、赤紫色の花を咲かせます。

ゴマノハグサ科レウコフィルム属の常緑小低木で、学名は Leucophyllum frutescens。英名は Cenizo。

The Cenizo (Leucophyllum frutescens) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed from the southwestern United States; Texas to Mexico. This shrub grows in arid areas and can reach 1-3 m in height. The leaves are round and silvery white. The magenta flowers bloom from May to October.
