西オーストラリア州のキンバリー地方に分布しています。日陰のある砂岩のクレビスなどに生え、高さは５センチほどになります。植物体は平伏します。葉は楕円形で、粗い鋸歯と長くて翼のある葉柄があります。全体に腺毛と腺液に被われています。３月から９月ごろ、青紫色から白色の花を咲かせます。食虫植物です。別名で「キンバリーサンドストーンバイオレット」とも呼ばれます。

The Kimberley sandstone violet (Lindernia cleistandra) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Kimberly in West Austraila Province. This herb grows in shaded sandstone crevices, and it can reach about 5 cm in height. The plant is procumbent. The leaves are elliptic with coarsely toothed edges and long winged petioles. The whole plant is covered with glandular hairs and glandular fluids. The blue-purple to white flowers bloom from March to September. Kimberley sandstone violet is a carnivorous plant.
