リトルブルーステム [Index] [Back] 北アメリカが原産です。プレーリーに生え、高さは１メートルほどになります。それはバンチグラス（ほふく茎を持たず、地面を埋めつくすことがない、草むらを形成する草の総称）であり、「ビッグブルーステム（Andropogon gerardii）」、「インディアングラス（Sorghastrum nutans）」、「スイッチグラス（Panicum virgatum）」とともに、トールグラスプレーリーで目立ちます。葉は青みがかった緑色または灰色がかった緑色で線形、秋には銅色またはほとんどオレンジ色になり、赤色または紫色がかります。  イネ科ウシクサ属の多年草で、学名は Schizachyrium scoparium。英名は Little bluestem、Beard grass。  The little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a perennial herb that is native to North America. This herb grows in prairies, and can reach about 1 m in height. It is a bunchgrass and is prominent in tallgrass prairie, along with big bluestem (Andropogon gerardii), indiangrass (Sorghastrum nutans) and switchgrass (Panicum virgatum).
