アメリカの中部から西部に分布しています。乾燥した平原や丘陵などに生え、高さは５〜３０センチになります。葉は狭披針形で、毛に被われています。５月から７月ごろ、上部の葉腋から、鮮黄色のラッパ形でフリルのある花を咲かせます。花冠には細かく不規則な鋸歯があります。

ムラサキ科ムラサキ属の多年草で、学名は Lithospermum incisum。英名は Fringed puccoon、Fringed gromwell。

The fringed puccoon (Lithospermum incisum) belongs to Boraginaceae (the Borage family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the central and western United States. This herb grows in dry open plaines, foothills and can reach 5-30 cm in height. The leaves are narrowly lanceolate and covered with hairs. The fringed, bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers are borne in upper axils from May to July. The corolla is finely and irregularly toothed.
