オーストラリア東部のクイーンズ州の固有種です。硬葉樹林に生え、高さは１８メートルまでになります。葉は中肋のある掌状複葉で、葉柄は長さ１５０〜２８０センチで、縁に沿って黒い棘があります。花序の長さは最大３５０センチで、直径が最大２０ミリの光沢のある黒い果実ができます。この種は現在、世界中の乾燥地域で観賞用の植物として広く栽培されています。

ヤシ科ビロウ属の常緑高木で、学名は Livistona decora (syn. Livistona decipiens)。英名は Ribbon fan palm。

Ribbon fan palm (Livistona decora) belongs to the Arecaceae (the Palm family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is endemic to Queensland in Australia. This tree grows in the sclerophyll woodlands, and up to a height of 18 m. The leaves are costapalmate with petioles up to 150-280 cm long, with black spines along the margins. Infloresences are up to 350 cm long, producing shiny black fruits up to 20 mm in diameter. The species is now widely cultivated in arid regions worldwide as a decorative plant.
