北アメリカの太平洋側、カナダのブリティッシュコロンビア州からカリフォルニア州、それにバハカリフォルニアに分布しています。草地や荒れ地などに生え、高さは２０〜４０センチになります。葉は掌状複葉で、線形に近い小葉は５〜７個あります。３月から６月ごろ、総状花序をだして、青色の蝶形花を咲かせます。旗弁には白い斑紋があります。

マメ科ルピナス属の一年草または二年草で、学名は Lupinus bicolor。英名は Miniature lupine、Pigmy-leaved lupine 。

The miniature lupine (Lupinus bicolor) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is an annual or biennial herb that is native to the Pacific Ocean Side of North America, from British Columbia south to California and Baja California. This herb grows in grasslands or waste grounds, and it can reach 20-40 cm in height. The leaves are palmately compound with 5-7, near-linear leaflets. The blue papilionacenous flowers bloom in the racemes from March to June. The flag petals have white mottles.
