The Lycaste brevispatha belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Costa Rica to Nicaragua and Panama in Central America. It grows in humid temperate to tropical mountainous areas at an altitude of 800 to 1800 m, epiphytic on trees and rocks. It has elliptic leaves that grow from ovate to spindle-shaped pseudobulbs. At the end of spring, it produces erect inflorescences and fragrant white flowers. The sepals are light green with pale pink spots, the lateral petals are white with a pink blur, and the labellum has purple spots with a pink tinge.
