The Lycaste ciliata belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. This herb is a deciduous epiphytic or lithophytic orchid. This herb grows in shady scrubs, river canyons and on decaying tree stumps. The pseudo-bulbs are ovoid and bear two leaves. The nocturnall fragrant, waxy, long-lived flowers bloom in the spring.
