The golden globe (Lysimachia congestiflora) belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is native to central-southern China, Taiwan, South Asia and north-eastern India. This herb grows in ditches, roadsides, banks of rice paddies, damp forest margins and it can reach 10-50 cm in height. The stems are prostrate and rooting at nodes. The leaves are ovate to broadly ovate, narrowly winged, and arranged in opposite. The yellow flowers bloom in the terminal racemes from May to June. The fruits are subglobose capsules 3-4 mm in diameter. This herb is planted as a popular garden plant.
