メキシコの中部が原産です。茎は青緑色から銅緑色で、高さは２メートルほどになります。また茎の直径は４〜７センチで５〜９稜があり、１個の中棘と１〜５個の縁棘があります。冬、夜のあいだにクリーム色の花を咲かせます。果実は結節のような液果で灰褐色に熟します。

サボテン科ステノケレウス属の柱状サボテンで、学名は Stenocereus beneckei（syn. Hertrichocereus beneckei）。英名はありません。

The Stenocereus beneckei belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a perennial cactus that is native to central Mexico. This cactus is shrubby, bluish-green or bronze-green and can reach up to 2 m in height. Stems are 4-7 cm in diameter, 5-9 ribs with 1 central spine and 1-5 radial spines. Cream flowers come in winter, opening during the night. Fruits are tuberculate berries and ripen grayish-brown.
