ヨーロッパに広く分布しています。日当たりのよい野原や道ばたに生え、高さは３０〜９０センチほどになります。葉は３〜７裂します。５月から９月ごろ、直径２．５センチくらいの光沢のある黄色の花を咲かせます。葉や茎には苦味があって家畜が嫌うため、牧草地でも繁殖します。

キンポウゲ科キンポウゲ属の多年草で、学名は Ranunculus acris。英名は Common buttercup。

The Common buttercup (Ranunculus acris) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed widely to Europe. This herb grows in sunny fields and roadsides and it can reach 30-90 cm in height. The leaves are divided into 3-7 lobes. The glossy yellow flowers, about 2.5 cm across come from May to September. This herb has bitter taste in the leaves and stems and can reproduce in a meadow.
