ニュージーランドが原産です。山地から亜高山帯に生え、高さは１０〜５０センチになります。葉は腎臓形から心臓形で、浅い切れ込みがあります。晩春から夏にかけて、花茎を伸ばして黄色い蝋質の花を咲かせます。冷涼な気候と、湿った泥炭質の土を好みます。

キンポウゲ科キンポウゲ属の多年草で、学名は Ranunculus insignis。英名は New Zealand alpine ranunculus。

The New Zealand alpine ranunculus (Ranunculus insignis) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to New Zealand. This herb grows from the mountains to the subalpine zone and can reach 10 to 50 cm in height. The leaves are kidney-shaped to heart-shaped and have shallow notches. From late spring to summer, the flower stalks bear and the yellow waxy flowers come in bloom. It prefers a cool climate and moist peat soil.
