ヨーロッパのアルプスやバルカン山地、カルパチア山脈に分布しています。標高７００〜２８００メートルの草地や砂礫地に生え、高さは１０〜１５センチになります。基部の葉は掌状に深裂し、茎葉は披針形で茎を抱きます。５月から８月ごろ、直径１〜３センチの鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。

キンポウゲ科キンポウゲ属の多年草で、学名は Ranunculus montanus。英名は Mountain buttercup。

The Mountain buttercup (Ranunculus montanus) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Europe; the Alps, the Balkan mountains and the Carpathians mountains. This herb grows in montane grasslans or screes 700-2800 m elevation and can reach 10-15 cm in height. The basal leaves are partite palmately and the stem leaves are lanceolate and amplexicaul. The golden-yellow flowers 1-3 cm across come in May to August.
