The Parnassus-leaved buttercup (Ranunculus parnassifolius) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Alps and the Pyrenees. This herb grows in rocks and moraines on limestone, often by snow patches, 1900-2900 m elevation, and can reach 10-15 cm in height. The leaves are ovate heart-shaped or broad lancelate and untoothed. The flowers are white, often pink or red tinged, and bloom from July to August.
