The Lysionotus pauciflorus var. ikedae belongs to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). It is an evergreen small shrub that is endemic to the Lan Yu Island, in the southeast of Taiwan. This shrub is an epiphyte that occurs on rocks or tree trunks in rainforests. Leaves are oblong to elliptic, opposite or whorled with acute toothed edges. Flowers are purple, pale pink, white or yellow on the upper axils. Corolla is labiate, upper lip 2-lobed and lower lip 3-lobed.
