The Rhipsalis aculeata belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a treelike cuctus that is native to the northwestern part of Argentina. This cuctus is epiphytic on trees in the rainforest. The stem is thin, cylindrical, 3-4 mm in diameter, and well-branched. The areoles are close together, bearing wool and 8 to 10 appressed white bristles or spines. The fruits are not immersed, spherical, 7-8 mm in diameter, and ripen from deep purple to almost black.
