マダガスカル島の固有種です。アフリカからスリランカ、熱帯アメリカに広く分布しているバッキフェラ種の倍数体の亜種です。茎は円筒形で、自由に分枝します。棘座（Areole）には銀白色の剛毛が生えますが、古くなると脱落します。茎の先端部に近いところの棘座に、淡い紅色を帯びたクリーム色の花を咲かせます。

サボテン科リブサリス属の常緑多年草で、学名は Rhipsalis baccifera ssp. horrida（syn. Rhipsalis saxicola）。英名はありません。

The Rhipsalis baccifera ssp. horrida belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen perennial herbacious plant that is endemic to Madagascar. This cactus is a subspecies of Rhipsalis baccifera that is distributed from tropical Africa to Sri Lanka and tropical America. This is a polyploid form of the host plant. Stems are round and branch freely. Silvery-white bristles grow in the areoles of new growth, they die off when get older. Pinkish-cream flowers are seen on the areoles near the apex of the stems.
