ロードデンドロン・アルボレウム [Index] [Back] 中国南部からブータン、ネパール、タイ、インドそれにスリランカに分布しています。山地の林内に生え、高さはふつう１２メートルほどになります。葉は濃緑色の長楕円形で革質、裏面は銀色または褐色の毛で被われています。春に赤色やピンク色、白色などの花を咲かせます。花は鐘形で、内側に黒色の蜜嚢と黒色の斑点があります。ネパールの国花です。中国語では「樹形杜鵑（shu xing du juan）」と呼ばれます。 ツツジ科ツツジ属の常緑高木で、学名は Rhododendron arboreum。英名はありません。 The Rhododendron arboreum belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is a tall tree that is native to the southern China, Bhutan, Nepal, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka. This tree grows in mountains forests and usually can reach up to 12 m in height. The leaves are dark-green, oblong, leathery and covered with silvery or brown hairs beneath. The red, pink or white flowers bloom in spring. They are bell-shaped and have black necter pouches and black spots inside. Rhododendron arboreum is also the national flower of Nepal.
