ヒマラヤ周辺のインド、ビルマ、中国の雲南省やチベットに分布しています。標高３０００〜４６００メートルの岩礫地に生え、高さは３０〜６０センチになります。葉は長楕円形から楕円形で、裏面は鱗片で被われます。また葉には芳香があります。晩春に、白色から濃いピンク色の花を咲かせます。まれに黄色もあるそうです。

ツツジ科ツツジ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Rhododendron cephalanthum。英名はありません。

The Rhododendron cephalanthum belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed in India, Burma, Yunnan Province and Tibet in China around the Himalayas. This shrub grows on rocky gravel at an altitude of 3000-4600 meters and can reach 30-60 cm in height. The leaves are oblong to ovate and the back is covered with scales. The leaves also have a fragrance. The white to deep pink flowers come in late spring. In rare cases, there is also yellow.
