ニューギニア西部のイリアンジャヤ（Irian Jaya）が原産です。標高が５００〜１４００メートルに分布し、着生植物で、高さは２メートルほどになります。若い茎や葉は、鱗片状です。茎の先端の花序に、４〜６個の花を咲かせます。花は白色またはピンク色で、ピーチ色の咽があり、「カーネーション」に似た強い芳香があります。

ツツジ科ツツジ属の常緑低木で、学名は Rhododendron dianthosmum。英名はありません。

The Rhododendron dianthosmum belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to Irian Jaya in western New Guinea. This shrub is an epiphyte with an altitude of 500 to 1400 m and a height of about 2 m. Young stems and leaves are scaly. The inflorescences at the tips of the stems have 4 to 6 flowers. The flowers are white or pink, have a peach-colored throat, and have a strong aroma similar to "carnation".
