ユーラシア大陸に分布しています。乾燥した砂礫地の草原に生え、高さは１０〜４０センチになります。葉は羽状複葉で、小葉は８対以上あり、基部には托葉があります。夏に集散花序をだし、淡い黄白色の六弁花を咲かせます。

バラ科シモツケソウ属の多年草で、学名は Filipendula hexapetala。英名は Dropwort、Meadowsweet。

The Dropwort (Filipendula hexapetala) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to the Eurasian Continent. This herb grows in arid gravel grasslands and can reach 10-40 cm in height. The leaves are pinnate compound with over 8 pairs of leaflets and stipulars at the bases. The corymbs are borne and bloom pale yellowish-white, 6-petaled flowers in summer.
