中国の中部、山西省から陝西省、甘粛省、青海省それに四川省に分布しています。日当たりの良い山地の林縁や潅木帯に生え、高さは２メートルほどになります。枝先は弓なりに垂れ下がり、細かい棘が生えています。春に直径５〜７センチのレモンイエローの花を咲かせます。種名は、発見者のヒュー・スカラン（Hugh Scallan）神父に因みます。 |

The Father Hugo rose (Rosa hugonis) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed to central China, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan. This tree grows on sunny mountain edges and shrub belts and is about 2 m high. The tip of the branch hangs down like a bow, and fine thorns grow. Lemon yellow flowers with a diameter of 5 to 7 cm come in spring. The species is named after the discoverer, the Irish botanist, Father Hugh Scallan. |
