ヨーロッパの中部から南部に分布しています。明るい林内や亜高山帯の潅木帯や牧草地などに生え、高さは２〜３メートルになります。葉は奇数羽状複葉で、楕円形の小葉が７〜１１個つきます。６月から７月ごろ、一重の濃いピンク色の花を咲かせます。果実はボトル形で下垂し、赤く熟します。

バラ科バラ属の落葉低木で、学名は Rosa pendulina (syn. Rosa alpina)。英名は Alpine rose。

The Alpine rose (Rosa pendulina) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native to central and southern Europe. This tree grows in open woods or subalpine scrubs, meadows and can reach 2-3 m in height. The leaves are odd-pinnate compound with 7-11 elliptic leaflets. The single deep pink flowers come in June and July. The fruits are pendant, bottle-shaped and ripen red.
