The Ruellia barbillana belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is a perennial evergreen herb that is native to Costa Rica in Central America. This herb is 50-80 cm in height, and the leaves are ovate and opposite. The funnel-shaped flowers are pale lavender pink, 4-5 cm in diameter, with 5 split tips that open flat. The flowers are one-day flowers, but if there is temperature, they will continue to bloom year-round.
