アフリカ東部の熱帯地域に分布しています。高さは３〜４メートルになります。冬から春にかけて、赤橙色から黄色をしたウサギの頭のような花を咲かせます。ラッパ状の花冠のなかには蜜があり、ハミングバードが吸いやすいようになっています。

キツネノマゴ科ルッティア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Ruttya fruticosa。英名は Rabbit ears、Hummingbird plant。

The Rabbit ears (Ruttya fruticosa) belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed in the tropics of eastern Africa. This shrub will be 3-4 m in height. From winter to spring, the red-orange to yellow rabbit head-like flowers come in bloom. There is nectar in the trumpet-shaped corolla, which makes it easier for Hummingbird to suck.
