キンポウゲ科リュウキンカ属の多年草で、学名は Caltha palustris var. nipponica。英名は Marsh marigold。
The Marsh marigold (Caltha palustris var. nipponica) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is distrubuted to Honshu, Kyushu in Japan and the Korean Peninsula. This herb grows in montane marshes or water's edges and can reach 30-50 cm in height. The leaves are round with shallow toothed edges. The bright yellow flowers bloom on the stem apices and axils from May to July. The sepals look like petals.
