アメリカの南西部、カリフォルニア州に分布しています。海岸地帯では６０センチほど、内陸部では１．２〜１．５メートルになります。濃緑色の葉は長楕円形から広楕円形で、縁には鈍鋸歯があります。春から初夏のころ、総状花序をだして芳香のある青色の花を咲かせます。ソリチャ属は、総称して「カリフォルニアライラック」と呼ばれます。

クロウメモドキ科ソリチャ属の常緑低木で、学名は Ceanothus foliosus。英名は Wavy-leaved ceanothus、Wavyleaf ceanothus。

The Wavy-leaved ceanothus (Ceanothus foliosus) belongs to Rhamnaceae (the Buckthorn family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in California, in the southwestern part of the United States. This tree will grow about 60 cm in the coastal area and 1.2-1.5 m in the inland area. The dark green leaves are oblong to broad-elliptic with blunt serrations on the edges. From spring to early summer, racemes are borne and fragrant blue flowers come in bloom. The genus Solicha is collectively called "California lilac".
