The Cymbidium genus belongs to the Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native from Southeast Asia to the Himalaya, Assam highland region. The genus "Cymbidium" named from the ancient Greek "kymbes" meaning of boat-shaped, describing the shape of the lip. Many cultivars are breeded, and many flower colors are present such as pink, red, yellow, white or green. Cymbidium is one of typical pot flowers nowadays. In addition, in order to make it bloom at the end of the year, mountain-raising cultivation is carried out, which is carried to high altitudes during the summer.
