ヨーロッパの南部が原産です。マウンドを形成し、高さは２０〜３０センチになり、３０〜６０センチほどに広がります。葉には芳香があり、秋には紅葉します。６月から７月のはじめにかけて、紫色がかったピンク色の花を咲かせます。

フウロソウ科フウロソウ属の半常緑多年草で、学名は Geranium macrorrhizum。英名は Bigroot cranesbill、Cranesbill。

The Bigroot cranesbill (Geranium macrorrhizum) belongs to Geraniaceae (the Geranium family). It is a semi-evergreen herb that is native to southern Europe. This herb can reach 20-30 cm in height and forms mound 30-60 cm across. The leaves are aromatic and turn red in fall. The purplish pink flowers appear from June to early July.
