わが国の本州、関東地方以西から四国・九州に分布しています。山地の岸壁に生え、高さは10〜35センチになります。葉は腎円形で7〜11裂し、基部は心形です。9月から11月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして集散花序をつけ、人の字に似た花を咲かせます。花弁は上部3個が短く、下部の2個は長く伸びます。上部の花弁の基部には黄色い斑があります。 
ユキノシタ科ユキノシタ属の多年草で、学名は Saxifraga cortusaefolia。英名はありません。 
"Jinji-so" (Saxifraga cortusaefolia) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in Honshu, from the Kanto region west to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. This herb grows on mountain quays and can reach 10-35 cm in height. The leaves are round-kidney with 7-11 fissures and a heart-shaped base. From September to November, the flower stalks are grown to produce cymes, and flowers that resemble human characters bloom. The upper three petals are short and the lower two are long. There are yellow spots on the base of the upper petals.
