The "Jinmuji-kana-warabi" (Arachniodes x jinmujiensis) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed to Kanagawa Prefecture in Honshu, and the Oki Islands in Shimane Prefecture. It is an interspecific hybrid between "Hosoba-kana-warabi" (Arachniodes aristata) and "Ryomen-shida" (Arachniodes standishii), and is found very rarely in areas where the parents grow together. It grows to a height of about 50-100 cm. The leaves are 3-4 times pinnate compound, and bright green in color. The Japanese name comes from the fact that it was first discovered at Jinmuji Temple in Zushi City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Jinmuji Temple was founded in the Nara period (710-794) and is a sacred site of mountain worship built in the bosom of a mountain made entirely of tuff.
