サバル・カウシアルム [Index] [Back] カリブ海にあるヒスパニオラ島、プエルトリコそれにバージン諸島が原産です。団扇状のヤシで、高さは１０メートルほど、直径は３５〜７０センチになります。葉は２０〜３０個つき、それぞれに６０〜１２０個の小葉があります。花序は分枝し、弓なりになるか下垂し、球形で黒色の果実をつけます。葉は、麦わら帽子の製造に使用されます。  ヤシ科サバル属の常緑小高木で、学名は Sabal causiarum。英名は Puerto Rico palmetto。  The Puerto Rico palmetto (Sabal causiarum) belongs to Arecaceae (the Palm family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is native to Hispaniola, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It is a fan palm and grows up to 10 m tall and 35-70 cm in daimeter. The plants have 20-30 leaves, each with 60-120 leaflets. The inflorescences are branched, arching or pendulous, bear globose, black fruit.
