"Saihai-ran" (Cremastra appendiculata) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is native to throughout Japan, Taiwan, Eastsouth Asia, China and India. This herb grows in mountain forests and can reach 30-50 cm in height. The pseudobulbs are ovate and arise solitary or rarely two leaves from apex of pseudobulbes. The leaves are oblong with acute tips. The flowering stalk is borne and the pale greenish brown, tinged magenta flowers bloom in the racemes from May to June.
