アフリカ・タンザニアの北東部、ウサンバラ山地に分布しています。雨林の岩上や樹幹などに着生し、ロゼットを形成するかときに匍匐します。葉は濃緑色の心形で縁には鋸歯があり、ビロード状の軟毛に被われます。花は淡い青紫色で中心部は濃い青紫色です。

イワタバコ科セントポーリア属の多年草で、学名は Saintpaulia velutina。英名はありません。

The Saintpaulia velutina belongs to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). It is a perennial herbacious plant that is endemic to the Usambara Mountains in the northeast part of Tanzania. This is an epiphyte that grows on rocks or tree trunks in the rainforests and grows as a rosette or sometimes as a trailer. Leaves are dark green, cordate and serrated with plenty of soft velvety hairs. Flowers are light bluish-purple with darker bluish-purple center.
