	わが国の九州南部から南西諸島、それに東南アジア、オーストラリアに分布しています。林の中に生育し、岩や樹木などに気根で付着してよじ登ります。葉は長楕円形で、多肉質でかたく光沢があります。６月から１０月ごろ、節から短い柄を出して、球状の花序に淡紅色の花を咲かせます。写真中４は園芸品種の「インディアンロープ（cv. Indian Rope）」。
	ガガイモ科サクララン属の常緑多年草で、学名は Hoya carnosa。英名は Wax vine。
	The Wax vine (Hoya carnosa) belongs to Asclepiadaceae (the Milkweed family). It is an evergreen herb that is native from southern Kyushu to the Ryukyu Islands in Japan, as well as Southeast Asia and Australia. This herb grows in forests and climbs up adjacent trees or rocks by the aerial roots. The leaves are oblong, carnose, hard and glossy. The pale rose pink flowers bloom in the spherical clusters which bear on the short peduncles of nodes from June to October. The fifth photo is a cultivar 'Indian Rope'.
