"Saku-yuri" (Lilium auratum var. platyphyllum) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an endemic spices of the Izu Islands in Japan. It is also a variety of Yama-yuri" (Lilium auratum) which grows from the Kinki region to the Tohoku region of Honshu, Japan. This herb grows in forest edges or grasslands, and it can reach 150-200 cm in height. The leaves are broad oblong and arranged in alternate. The large, 25-30 cm across, white flowers bloom atop of stem from June to July. It has not red-brown mottles on the petals and has a strong scent. "Saku-yuri" is known as a host species of cultivar "Casablanca"
