ブラジルおよびパラグアイ、アルゼンチン北部が原産の「メドーセージ」の園芸品種です。高さは９０〜１２０センチほどになります。茎や萼は明るい緑色をしています。夏から秋にかけて、芳香のあるスカイブルーの花を咲かせます。

シソ科アキギリ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Salvia guaranitica cv. Argentine Skies。英名は Blue anise sage、Brazilian sage。

The Blue anise sage (Salvia guaranitica cv. Argentine Skies) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen shrub that is a cultivar of "meadow sage" native to Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina. The height will be about 90-120 cm. The stems and calyxes are bright green. The fragrant sky blue flowers come in summer and fall.
