メキシコの中東部、サンルイスポトシ州とタマウリパス州に分布しています。茎は地面を這い、匍匐枝によって広がります。葉は卵形で、まつ毛のような毛で縁取られます。夏から秋にかけて、長い総状花序をだし、真っ赤な花を咲かせます。種小名は、ギリシャ語の「まつ毛のような縁取りのある葉」に由来します。

The Eyelash leaved sage (Salvia blepharophylla) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb that is native to central-eastern Mexico, San Luis Potosi and Tamaulipas. This herb is creeping and spreading by stolons. The leaves are ovate and fringed by eyelash-like hairs. The long racemes are borne and bloom bright red flowers from summer to fall. The specific epithet is from the Greek for "with leaves fringed like eyelashes".
