メキシコが原産です。サルビア・ミクロフィラの変種で、高さは９０〜１２０センチになります。葉は小さな卵形で対生し、光沢がありべたつきます。また葉にはフルーツの香りがあります。秋に赤色の唇形花を咲かせます。冬に寒さが厳しいと地上部は枯死し、春に芽生えます。

シソ科アキギリ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Salvia microphylla var. neurepia。英名は Fruity littleleaf sage。

The Fruity littleleaf sage (Salvia microphylla var. neurepia) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Mexico. It is a variant of the Baby sage (Salvia micropyulla),and can reach 90-120 cm in height. The leaves are small ovate and opposite, shiny and sticky. The leaves also have a fruity scent. The red lip-shaped flowers come in fall. If the cold is severe in winter, the above-ground part will die and regenerate in spring.
