"Sanbo-kan" (Citrus sulcata) belongs to Rutaceae (the Citrus family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Wakayama prefecture, Honshu, Japan. It is considered to be a natural hybrid of "Yuzu" and "Bitter orange", but the fruits are tasty and bland in taste. It is said that the name comes from the fact that there was only one log in Wakayama Castle during the Edo period, and the fruit was presented with the "Sanpo" (small wooden stand). This fruits spread in the Meiji era and is a specialty of Yuasa Town, Wakayama Prefecture.
