The Sword sansevieria (Sansevieria ehrenbergii) belongs to Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed from the eastern to the northeastern parts of tropical Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It grows in deserts and dry shrub biomes, and can reach a height of around 1.5 m. It reproduces by rhizome and forms dense communities. It has short stems and leaves arranged in two rows, forming a sparse fan shape. The leaves are dark green, fleshy, and have grooves on the inside, and are usually 50-150 cm long and 3-8 cm wide. The Maasai people have used this plant for disinfectants, bandages, ropes, baskets, and clothing. Formerly in the genus Sansevieria, it is now included in Dracaena.
