さんごしとう (珊瑚紫豆)

オーストラリアで作出された「アメリカでいご（Erythrina crista-galli）」と「エリスリナ・ヘルバケア（Erythrina herbacea）」との交配種です。高さは２．５〜４メートルになり、葉は菱形をしています。７月から９月ごろ、長い花序をだして、鮮やかな濃赤色の花を咲かせます。別名で「ひしばでいご（菱葉梯梧）」とも呼ばれます。関西地方では、冬になると地上部はほとんど枯れてしまいます。 |

マメ科デイゴ属の落葉低木で、学名は Erythrina x bidwillii。英名はありません。 |

The Erythrina x bidwillii belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a small deciduous tree that is an interspecific hybrid between Coral tree (Erythrina crista-galli) and Erythrina herbacea. This tree was breeded in Australia, and it can reach 2.5-4 m in height. The leaves are diamond. The long clusters are borne and bloom bright dark red flowers from July to September. The terrestrials are blighted in winter in Kansai district of Japan. |
