さんごじゅすずめうり (珊瑚樹雀瓜) [Index] [Back] わが国の沖縄諸島やニューギニアやオーストラリアを含む旧世界の熱帯地域全体に分布しています。森の湿った場所や草地、河畔などに生えます。地面に這ったり、巻きひげでよじ登ります。葉は変化が大きく、広卵形から三角形、または掌状に３〜５裂し、縁には鋸歯があります。花は小さく黄色で、葉腋にある花序に咲きます。果実は６〜１１ミリの球形で平滑かつ無毛、若いときは緑色で薄い縞があり、成熟すると鮮赤色になります。  ウリ科スズメウリ属の一年草で、学名は Melothria maderaspatana (syn. Mukia maderaspatana)。英名はありません。  "Sangoju-suzume-uri" (Melothria maderaspatana) belongs to Cucurbitaceae (the Gourd family). It is an annual herb that is distributed to the Okinawa Islands in Japan, as well as throughout the Old World Tropics including New Guinea and Australia. This herb grows in damp places in woodland, grassland and riverine margins. It is prostrate or climbing by tendrils. The leaves are variable, broadly ovate to triangular or palmately 3-5 lobed, with serrated margins. The flowers are small, yellow, and bloom in axillary clusters.
