Hooded pitcher plant (Sarracenia minor) belongs to Sarraceniaceae (the Picher plant family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the southeast United States. This herb grows in coastal regions, and up to a height of 25-30 cm. The tubular bladders are mostly green throughout, but can also be reddish in the upper part. The flowers are yellow in color, odorless and bloom in late March to mid-May. The fruit is a capsule containing over a hundred seeds. In the wild, it seems very attractive to ants, although it also attracts and eats a wide range of flying insects.
