マレー半島に分布しています。「むゆうじゅ（Saraca asoca）」の近縁種で、高さは１２〜１５メートルになります。新しい葉は青白く、枝先にぶらさがります。１月から４月ごろ、円錐状の散房花序に黄色い花をいっぱいに咲かせます。花弁のように見えるのは萼片で、真ん中が赤みを帯びています。

マメ科ムユウジュ属の常緑高木で、学名は Saraca thaipingensis。英名は Yellow saraca。

The Yellow saraca (Saraca thaipingensis) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is distributed to the Malay Peninsula. This species is related to the Ashoka (Saraca asoca) and can reach 12-15 m in height. The fresh leaves are ashen and suspend from terminal twigs. Many yellow flowers come on the conula corymbs from January to April. The sepals look like petals and tinged reddish center.
