北極海周辺からヨーロッパアルプスに分布しています。高山の雪田などに生え、高さは２〜１０センチほどになります。葉は全縁または浅く３裂し、縁には毛が密生しています。７月から８月ごろ、白い花を咲かせます。毛が密生した葉や花茎などは、わが国の「ちしまくもまぐさ（Saxifraga merkii）」によく似ています。

ユキノシタ科ユキノシタ属の多年草で、学名は Saxifraga androsacea。英名はありません。

The Saxifraga androsacea belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from around the Arctic Ocean to the European Alps. This herb grows in snow patches in high mountains and is about 2 to 10 cm high. The leaves are entire or shallowly split into three, with dense hair on the edges. The white flowers come in July to August. The leaves and flower stalks with dense hair are very similar to the "Chishima-kumomagusa" (Saxifraga merkii) in Japan.
