小アジアからコーカサス地方、ヨーロッパ南東部に分布しています。高さは１０〜２０センチほどです。３月から４月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして青いベル形の花を咲かせます。写真上・中１は園芸品種の「スプリングビューティ（cv. Spring Beauty）」。

ユリ科ツルボ属の多年草で、学名は Scilla siberica。英名は Siberian squill。

The Siberian squill (Scilla siberica) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native from Asia Minor to Caucasus region and southeastern Europe. This herb can reach 10-20 cm in height. The flowering stalks are borne and the blue bell-shaped flowers bloom from March to April. The upper two photos are a cultivar 'Spring Beauty'.
