The Wood club-rush (Scirpus sylvaticus) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Eurasia. This grass grows in ditches, swampy forests and lakeshores, and it can reach 40-100 cm in height. The stem is stiff and erect. The leaves are flat linear, 1-2 cm wide. The numerous, grayish green, multiflorous spikelets are borne in many branched inflorescence from June to August.
